About Us

Bahçehane is a permaculture, art and ecological transformation garden in Alanya’s historic Tophane quarter. Created by the New Alanyans Platform, it brings together volunteers, artists, children and local communities through sustainable gardening, creative workshops and cultural exchange. Here, nature becomes a shared space for learning, production and connection.

The Benefits of a Community Garden

Bahçehane offers a peaceful place to grow, create and learn together. By caring for the soil, planting local species, sharing skills and organizing art-based activities, it helps people build a deeper connection with nature, community and the cultural spirit of Tophane quarter.

Get Involved in the Volunteer Program:

Join the Bahçehane volunteer program and become part of a living, multicultural garden community in Alanya’s historic Tophane quarter. Bahçehane brings together people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds who care about nature, creativity, ecological learning and cultural exchange. As a volunteer, you can contribute to garden care, planting, composting, mulching, art workshops, children’s activities, cultural gatherings, event organization, photography, video documentation, translation, social media support and small-scale ecological projects. You do not need to be an expert gardener to take part. Curiosity, care, regular participation and a willingness to learn are enough to become part of the Bahçehane story.

Our volunteer program is based on shared responsibility, respect for nature and the joy of creating something meaningful together. Volunteers help clean and prepare the garden, improve the soil, plant local and aromatic species, support workshops, welcome participants and document the transformation of the space over time. Through this process, Bahçehane becomes more than a garden: it becomes a welcoming meeting point where people from different cultures meet, exchange skills, share stories and learn from one another.

Every hour of support, every planted seed and every shared idea helps Bahçehane grow as a creative, ecological and multicultural space in Tophane.

What We Do:

At Bahçehane, we create a living, multicultural garden space where permaculture, art, ecological learning and community life come together in Alanya’s historic Tophane quarter. Bahçehane brings together people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds who care about nature, creativity, sustainability, well-being and cultural exchange. Through garden care, planting, composting, mulching, plant-growing workshops, hobby ateliers, art activities, children’s programs, movie nights, small music performances, breathwork sessions and cooking workshops led by professional chefs, we turn shared knowledge into collective experience. You do not need to be an expert to take part in this process. Curiosity, generosity, participation and a willingness to share what you know are enough to become part of Bahçehane’s work.

Our approach is based on the idea that people who have knowledge, skills or experience can share them freely with others, without expecting anything in return. Gardeners help improve the soil, artists guide creative workshops, educators support children’s activities, chefs share culinary knowledge, musicians create intimate gatherings, and volunteers document the transformation of the space through photography, video and future podcast content. Through this process, Bahçehane becomes more than a garden: it becomes a welcoming meeting point where people learn from one another, exchange skills, share stories and create together. Every shared lesson, every planted seed, every workshop and every act of support helps Bahçehane grow as a creative, ecological and multicultural learning space in Tophane.
